Blinded by the Vitamins

Who knew they were so dangerous. A dropper of vitamins turned a fabulous, fun-filled evening into a night of utter terror. It all began with a pediatrician visit we had the other day where she recommended we start giving Josiah vitamins. Little did we know, this seemingly innocuous advice would one day lead to an unfortunate accident.

As the doctor’s advice was resonating in my ears later that day, I saw the vitamins over on the counter and figured now was as good a time as any. So I decided to give Josiah a partial dropper of vitamins to test the waters. The taste was revolting to him, but I decided to go for another dose. Bad idea, Nathan.

It was on this perilous second attempt that Josiah’s hand, while seeing the dropper nearing his mouth, swatted it instinctively away. How could he have known the poor timing of his choice. My fingers had started to squeeze the dropper at the moment of impact and instead of entering his mouth, a vitamin packed droplet landed on his eye. Oh, the remorse I feel. I can remember it well, Josiah crying, me feeling helpless and Joanna wondering why she had entrusted me with this difficult task of vitamining our child. Thankfully, Joanna stepped in, shook me from my stupor, rinsed out Josiah’s eye with water and stopped the world from an untimely end. Thanks super-mom!! You’ve saved the day once again.

ATTENTION: Droppers of vitamins are no toys and should probably be handled by woman who, let’s face it, are more coordinated and have the ability of multi-tasking.
